Applications for the 2012-2013 residencies are due by Friday, April 1, 2012 and results will be announced in May. You can apply anytime throughout the year but applications will not be read until after the April 1st deadline. Also multiple submissions are not allowed.

About the Residencies:

The Kerouac Project provides four residencies a year to writers of any stripe or age, living anywhere in the world. Each residency consists of approximately a three month stay in the cottage where Jack Kerouac wrote his novel Dharma Bums. Utilities and a food stipend of $800 are included. All you are required to do is work on your writing project and give a reading in the house at the end of your residency. The Project also offers opportunities to you for readings, leading workshops and interacting with the Central Florida Community in various ways. From time to time during your stay you will be asked to participate when the house is used for events such as readings and workshops for local students or book groups. We strive to be a integral part of the literary community by bringing writers to Central Florida. The Kerouac House is much loved by all who have come to write here.

Writer in Residence Application 2012 - $25.00

Your application materials should all be included in a single document and include the following 2 items:

1) A one page resume: This may include your educational back ground, a list of previously published poems, short stories, novels or other works. Generally gives us an idea of what you have been up to. We support up and coming writers so no need to feel intimidated by the resume. It is simply a way for us to get to know a little more about you.

2) A ten page writing sample: This is the heart of your submission and we can’t wait to read what you have been working on!

In the cover letter field, please briefly describe what you would like to work on in the house and your preferred residency slot(s).
